It’s time for AUDITIONS for the second round of Spring 2012!

Auditions will run from 6 PM to 9 PM on Sunday January 22 to Tuesday January 24 in the Chambers Building lobby (across from the Library). You can show up at any point during these times to audition; no appointment or sign up is necessary.

Callbacks will occur on Thursday January 26, also from 6 PM to 9 PM unless otherwise noted by the director (I know that Assassins plans to do some callbacks on Wednesday).

Jonas’ world is perfect. Everything is under control and safe. There
is no war or fear or pain. There are also no choices. Every person is
assigned a role in the community. But when Jonas turns 12, he is
chosen for special training from The Giver—to receive and keep the
memories of the community. The Giver is the only person who holds the
memories of real pain and real joy. Now Jonas will learn the truth
about life—and the hypocrisy of his Utopian world.

Through meetings with the Giver, Jonas begins to learn how the world
used to be. He receives memories of the past, all the wonderful and
terrible things that were done away with long ago. In time, Jonas also
comes to learn the horrible truths about what lengths his community
will
go to in order to sustain the “sameness” it has created.

Whether you have read the award winning novel by Lois Lowry or not,
this stage adaptation of The Giver is sure to please. The show runs a
little over an hour, with no intermission. And as always, admission is
free of charge!

The most famous revenge story ever written, this unique adaptation of Hamlet displaces the Danish prince in the war torn wreckage of mid-90′s Eastern Europe. Following the old King Hamlet’s death a sudden civil war has transformed the once beautiful city of Elsinore into a wasteland of ruin and disease. Denmark is now beset by rebels while trying to stave off an invasion from a Western general named Fortinbras. As the play opens King Claudius, the new king of Denmark and brother to past King Hamlet, is being wed to Gertrude, King Hamlet’s widow. Though the marriage has created quite a controversy, all of Denmark is in celebration for a show of unity and joy to dispel the bleak war and recent death of King Hamlet. All of Denmark except for one: The titular Prince Hamlet, son of old King Hamlet. During a fateful night, Hamlet encounters what appears to be the ghost of his father revealing that Claudius killed King Hamlet to take the King’s wife and throne as his own. This earth-shattering revelation prompts the revenge that will lead to death and destruction as Hamlet must conquer with his own indecision before the struggle consumes himself and his sanity.

A jury of twelve enters deliberation for a murder case involving the alleged stabbing of a father by his son. While most of the jury believes the child guilty of committing the crime, one juror is not so sure. As law requires a unanimous verdict, the other eleven are forced to defend their decision to the dissenting individual. One by one, the confidence of the other jurors begins to break down through conflicting evidence and heightening tension. All except for one man, a father in the middle of a tumultuous relationship with his own son, determined to stand his ground.

Well guess what?! Some people that aren’t us have taken the liberty of going through all of his shows and condensing them into something you, the modern audience, can understand and laugh at! So then we paid these people some kinda royalty, or whatever you kids call it nowadays, and we’re going to be performing this hilarious parody! If you hate Shakespeare, then this is the show for you and if you love Shakespeare then this is the show for you, too! Everybody wins! If this synopsis hasn’t convinced you that you need to cum (hehe) to the show then you’re going to miss out

Romantic Fools is a laugh out loud comedy that shows everyone is a fool…at least in love.
Lori and Andrew have had ANYTHING but normal love lives. Lori is slightly neurotic and Andrew is far from perfect. Though the cast of crazy characters around them make them seem normal (from a caveman to neurotic woman who may have just killed her last boyfriend). After a series of misfired dates with mismatched mates, they meet each other. The show follows Lori and Andrews’ love lives separately, then together as they try to make it work while showing that even though the path to love is never easy, it’s always funny.

Synopsis:
Seymour Krelbourn, a down on his luck botany enthusiast, works at Mushnik’s Skid Row Florist Shop. The shop, owned by the continuously perplexed and distressed Mr. Mushnik, and manned by Seymour and his coworker the lovely yet submissive Audrey, is not doing well for business. Just when all seems lost and the shop must close, Seymour brings a new plant, the Audrey II to the attention of his boss and, upon placing it in the shop window, the shop’s business (and Seymour’s reputation) begin to thrive. However, we discover that the Audrey II, a plant that is nothing more than a little out of the ordinary at first glance, has a very, VERY particular diet…… human blood. Audrey’s abusive dentist boyfriend arrives at the shop and the fight between the pressure of success and moral conscious in Seymour’s little bubble begins. A dark comedy, cult classic musical that is sure to be a good time for all this Halloween, this show covers everything from masochistic dental patients to the poor lower class struggling to make it by. Every moment is filled with dark and campy goodness that everyone can enjoy and, as per No Refund Theatre’s reputation, the show is completely free.
